the best way to get a 50 is to aim not to get a 50
your plan to seek perfection is your undoing

You don't have to do 20 practice exams. I would recommend 8-10 - no more than 15.

And you can lose about 3 marks for a 50. (Stonecold got 50 losing at least 2.5).

Anything 45+ is all dependant on luck, in any subject. As others have said: try your best and hope for the best. But be prepared for the worst. There's nothing worse than a rude shock on results day. Don't expect something that you can't guarantee.

Make sure your question interpretation is impeccable, that's what killed me in Chem =D

The one really annoying thing in Chem exams is all those 1 mark random theory questions that come out of nowhere, e.g. "Why is ammonia better produced onsite rather than at a distant location?" or something like that.

If you want a 50, try not wanting a 50. Excellence in a field does not come from wanting a score, it comes from innate and tireless passion.

=/ I wanted 50 in Spesh the whole year, I even made an FB status about itl ike 2 months before exams lmao. And I was not passionate about Physics, I decided for Unit 4 to not spend time learning all the extra material that was unrelated to the exams, such as the inner-working of diodes for Unit 3.

Nothing scales at 50 except Spesh and select languages.

The only subject I thought I had a chance of 50 was in Specialist because it was completely objective- but I make so many silly mistakes when I do exams that it just didn't happen.
And before results I had estimated a 40 raw, 45 at best for English. And don't tell me you need 50 :) You can get 49s and 48s and get 99.95.

A 47 would have gotten 99.95 for me lol

This nearly 9-year-old thread has been locked. In the future, it is important that users use their own judgment and not update very old threads.

Making a new thread if there is no current discussion on a certain topic is more appropriate.
