The stupid portal won't let me enroll in any subjects!

Whenever I search for a subject, it just comes up with "Sorry, but there are no matching structures for the specified criteria."

Anyone know how to fix this?...preferably without a phone call or worse visit to the student centre.

Edit:  Okay, so I figure I am screwed... It just won't let me enroll in the subject I want (GENE20002).  I'm not sure whether it is because the classes for this subject are full according to the EPSC Facebook page OR most likely because this subject used to be non-allowed in BBiomed, and this is the first year which they are allowing it but the study plan has not been updated.

Point being, this is definitely going to require the Student Centre to fix it and what for?...so this subject can clash with two of the lectures for my core subject.  Fuck you Melbourne Uni...

Sigh. Reminds me of how last semester there was a subject in my core which also couldn't be done, because there was a subject listed as a prerequisite which was no longer on offer at the university. I could probably forgive the error (change that to a maybe), if it weren't for the fact I reported it three times, and one of the guys I reported it to was one of the faculty heads for Computing or something, who assured me in person that he would investigate it immediately, saying something along the lines of 'Don't worry this is exactly the sort of thing it is my responsibility to fix'. Unlike you, however luckily that subject wasn't required for my major, but it really is somewhat disturbing that the system is so fail.

In other words: Blame the Melbourne Model.

So I got to register for a Physics for Biomed prac and the only one available was the 5-8pm on a Thursday (My day off and have work as well)
No biggie, will wait till the 12th (today) for the other slots to open up.
Not opening up at all and now I don't have a prac at all. All of them are full.
How is it possible that they are not opening up enough slots for students who are enrolled in it?

you should have just enrolled in the 5-8pm slot anyway until today then swapped if you got the chance :P

but anyways don't worry they'll have to fit you in somewhere, maybe go down to your student center and ask them to put you in. Also check the student portal every day, sometimes slots open up randomly. It happened with my breadth subject, there were no spots but then when i checked a few days later there were like 5 tutorials available for registration.

Well, it wouldn't have worked anyway since there was actually NO new spots at all today for that class. Like you know how if it is unavailable, they would say how many more spots would be open today? Well, they don't even have that message so yeah.. They just don't have any more spots at all apparently...

I emailed them so hopefully I get a response tomorrow. If not I will have to go through the 1.5 hours to get to Uni to get it sorted out. Sigh...

I had to wait like a week and a half for EPSC to respond to something I sent. I hope you get a response quicker.

lol i meant when it was available, but don't worry i just realized you said you have work on that day, which is why you probably didn't register for it?

In terms of not telling how many spots would be available, that happened to me too but then some become available to register randomly yesterday, so don't stress  they HAVE to put all the students in a class so you'll get in.

You will most likely not get a response tomorrow, I also emailed regarding the same problem in fact, and i got an automatically generated email the next day saying I will get a response after 5-6 days and if it were urgent then I should call or visit the center. So it's probably best that you make a personal visit.

Man I hear you loud and clear.  The people at the call centre couldn't give a shit.  I explained the problem to them, and rather than reporting it and trying to get it fixed they just tell me to request a manual enrollment.  I feel sorry for the next poor bastard who has to go through the same shit as me when they could just fix it once and for all...  EAD Melbourne Uni.  Living up to your shit student service standards once again.

This is just where the Physics for Biomedicine fun begins my friend.  Brace yourself for a horror 12 weeks or so.  I think the subject is even worse now, because last year they just gave us 2 tests and an assignment to do.  Now you guys have assignments due every week.  I actually feel for you.  :/

At least you don't have Roger Rassool!

Oh my god Rassool. He did no teaching for his 6 weeks of Physics 1.

Funny story. I met this jaffy in O-week who was asking me what first year Physics was like and I said something along the lines of "There's this lecturer called Roger Rassool who tries too hard to be funny and doesn't teach you anything"

It turned out to be his son!
