question: what do i do if one of the subjects i want to do next semester (financial maths 1) is conditional upon me passing one of the subjects i'm doing now(accelerated math 2), it won't let me enroll into it...

Study plan is shit, email IT or the coordinator of the subject and they'll fix it

Last year, when the system was first introduced, nobody could enroll in our major because you had to do subjects that had each other listed as co-requisites...

Hello UoM comrades,

Has anyone here completed any units during the summer semester? I was planning to study Finance 1 during the summer and I just want to know whether the summer unit is any different to the same unit studied during the normal 12 week semester? Like is the teaching quality still the same? Are the class sizes smaller? And we don't have to pay full-fee right?

And to enrol into a summer unit, we just enrol using the study planner on portal?

Thanks.

Differences include having more to learn in a shorter space of time and having class when it is 40 degrees outside.

I did it over summer and it was awesome.  It's already easy over the normal semester according to my friends and it was even easier when I did it.  I did it last year and it was the coolest summer ever so the heat wasn't much of a problem.

Yes, you still need to pay the normal price.  And yes, the lectures will be smaller in size and you enrol through the planner.

Agree with Gloamglozer completely, though there were some nice days where you'd rather have been outside and at the beach! But it's awesome to get a subject out of the way.

On another topic, my study plan has Business Finance in the wrong section (in the breadth+science section as opposed to the breadth section), guess I'll need to make a trip to the EPSC.

Maybe that's not a bad thing?  Why can't it sit in the Breadth+Science section?  Or are you only taking 50 breadth points?  Otherwise I see no issue with it being there, I thought that section was for either breadth or science subjects that make up the flexible 25 points.

I only plan to take 50 breadth points (not a big fan of breadth haha), so I can't take another science if it's sitting there.

Not too bad for now! Slowly making my way through pathology, the first part is not as bad the second time around (after studying for the mid-semester, got 80% which I'm content with). The essay style exam has me a bit worried though, I'm never able to get what I'm thinking coherently down on paper. Should be alright though, fingers crossed anyway!

Can't say I've looked too much at techniques, future Jason's problem  ;D. 35% exam though, so not AS worried. How did you go in the practical exam? and studying in general?

Yeah Path isn't too bad. You bet me by one for the test (35/45) =(. I wasn't happy with my result, was aiming pretty high so that more room for error when it comes to that essay section of the test. Path is my semester 2 worry subject now because I don't know if I can get a ~80 on the exam to the get a H1 ><. Yea same, I've been doing practice essays and every time I read a new prompts its like heaps of ideas come to mind and I find it so difficult to piece it together (but I hope to get the hang of it after this week).

I'm a worry wart when it comes to exams. Man that practical test was torture, cortisol levels were off the roof. I was trembling to the max. But I mean the points on my graphs on the computer screen looked pretty dead precise (which I'm surprised) because all my practice ones are always pretty off. The printer stuffed up during my session so we had to draw out the absorbance graphs ourselves. I don't really know how they are going to gauge my accuracy of the Lowry essay from my jibby hand drawn graph. I'm absolutely lost in techniques. When I calculate what I need to get on my exam to get a H1, It's pretty darn achievable but with the standardising of the practical reports and stuff. I'm a bit worried  about that=(

Studying should be okay. My exams is spread out; approximately 6 days between each so I'm focusing on one subject at a time. So i'm not stressed out "that much".
