Question about final marks

After our HSC exams, when our aggregate is calculated, is that ranked against the people in year 12 at my school to determine my atar, or is it ranked against everyone in the state?

With the ATAR you're ranked against everyone in the state.

It's just the moderation of your HSC marks that's compared against your school cohort.

Hi, I was wondering if its possible to get an atar above 99.50+ in a school that ranks 240th. Lets say hypothetically I rank first in a subject, will my mark be moderated or not touched. I heard if your first, your not affected at ALL. Please clarify. Also, if your the only one in your year group doing 4U, is your mark moderated or not? Thank you very much

Yes - If you form a 1-person cohort, or come first in your own school cohort, you're completely immune to moderation.

Jamon went to a school ranked 300+ and scored 99.80 so........

Hi,

So trials are coming up next term week 3.
Currently my ranks +average marks
ADV English ( 58/88)- 70%  really bad
Maths (  28/57) - 75%
Biology ( 27/55) - 70%
Chemistry is really bad ( 20/28) - 65%
PDHPE 11/25 - 80%
Religion (41/ 85) - 80%

If I can boost my marks to above 90-95% in my trials ( I've collated all my mistakes and feedback from previous assessments) would it boost up my ranks aswell
My atar aim is around 95 but I'm happy with above 90 ( my school is in the top 100)
Also any tips for spacing out trial prep for my subjects because most of them are content heavy (thinking of going to a intensive 6 day  holiday course for trials ( maths and chem))

Cheers
