Hi all,

My name is Cyrus and I graduated in 2019 with an ATAR of 99.85. I am going into my second year of Bachelor of Medical Science & Doctor of Medicine at Monash University.

I am offering tutoring in Maths Methods and Specialist Maths (Raw scores of 47 and 43 respectively) for 2021 and any students wanting a head-start during the summer on the course material.

From experience I understand that both methods and specialist can cause a lot of confusion and be troublesome for students especially when it comes to solving the more abstract and technical exam style questions that differ from the routine textbook questions. Because of this I will be breaking down the entire course of these two subjects so that students can get an understanding of the topics and be able to confidently tackle the skill-based questions. I will then be developing the skills of students to tackle the problem-solving based questions seen both in Exam 1’s and 2’s by providing not only questions and papers that contain higher-order problems but also explaining the thinking process behind these questions so that students can gain confidence in their ability and knowledge for how to solve the more abstract kind of problems that they may be initially unfamiliar with. Besides this, I will also be showing CAS short-cuts and useful techniques that can be used to save time and to solve the more complicated questions in exams and SACs with a document outlining the useful CAS commands.

I understand that VCE is a very stressful part of a student’s life with a lot riding on an ATAR, which is why I not only tutor but also offer guidance on study and methods for optimising performance to help every student to achieve their best possible ATAR. I want to be on “your team” and will work closely with students and parents to plan the best course of action so that VCE will not only be less stressful but also more enjoyable and a rewarding experience.

During year 12, I also enjoyed sport, music and spending time with friends apart from my studies as I learnt methods that enabled me to spend less time studying but maximise my time effectively.

I have over 180 hours of experience in tutoring for both individual and group sessions and have referees which I can supply upon request.

I charge $45/hour for individual tuition and prices are negotiable for group sessions. I run my sessions face to face.
