Will she make it?

Hello guys!
Here, I hope to journal VCE ( mostly rant out my stresses n worries :) ), here's how the last term went:
......*not ideal*....

English: Not sure what exact grade I got in my creative sac, on the VCE "bell curve" I'm guessing it was somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, rote learning my creative stories did not pay off for me BUT on the positive side, I've been doing a lot of practice for the analysis coming up in 2 weeks. The weird thing is, my school dedicated 10 weeks to text analysis and only 2 to language analysis, whatt?? Hopefully my tutor shall serve as my saving grace (he's actually amazing) :)

Maths: Not my strength. I feel I always complain I don't understand methods but it's because I haven't opened myself to learning it. I mean maths is *technically* all made up right ::)
Now that I've actually immersed myself into it, aiming for about 1.5 hours a day, it is starting to make sense. My SAC is still a month and a bit away so yay uNfORtunately, I'm still looking for a way to enjoy mathematica (which is what my edgy school decided to use as our CAS, so i'm in CBE instead of CAS lol).

Biology: I enjoy biology, I recon it's doable with the right techniques. For that very reason, I've been pushing it back and taking it secondary (not good). My SAC is now 2 weeks away and I'm slipping into SAC revision mode tomorrow , aiming for +90%

Chemistry: Chemistry is going weirdly well. I've almost finished unit 3 content (yay) and will do my first UNIT 3 PRACTICE SAC this week! Although I bummed my last chem SAC with a whooping 67%, I have hope. Term 1 really helped me understand what kind of student I am. Figured I need to do alot of timed practice before my sacs to not freak out and stuff everything up.

Accounting: FULLY STUFFED IT UP and averaged 47% last term (2 SACS). Again, I didn't know how to study, I didn't attempt to understand the content... I'm ready now tho, SAC 3 week away -- aiming for a 85+ :)

Otherwise, I've been volunteering ALOT (100% recommend)! It really helped me realise there is so much more to the world than than the VCE realm. Additionally, I've  been getting into the habit of meditating and writing a productivity diary thing.

Kindest
Human xx

Hey!  Congrats on starting a journal :)

I use Mathematica for uni & found that it gets a LOT easier and you can write much faster with practice. At the start it can be a bit confusing but I hope that gets better soon :)

What areas have you been volunteering in?

Good luck with your journey - seems like things are looking up from here on out  :)

Hello human  ;D

You don't know how psyched I was when you said you're using Mathematica for methods too, haha. It's so rare to find someone else outside of school that does (it gets awkward in my tutoring group too, because no one knows how to help me with it). Solidarity. Sometimes the syntax makes me wanna bash my head into the keyboard, and it's inconvenient to lug your computer around instead of a tiny calculator, but I do find that compared to a normal CAS the display is easier to follow, and it's not too bad. My first SAC is in a month as well!

It's awesome that you're doing so much volunteering - in truth I like to volunteer as well but I'm terrified of potentially neglecting my studies if I do too many extracurriculars. What's your favourite subject right now? Looking forward to your updates  :)

Hi there Coldairballon,
wOw you use mathematica too? Do you go to JMSS by any chance (I swear I thought we where the only school doing mathematica). My tutoring is the same smh, hey 6 more months of this and that's it forever!
How are you studying for methods in general? Mathamatica? ITS SO TIME CONSUMING FOR ME
Honestly volunteering is so rewarding. It won't take too much of a toll I think, maybe an hour less of sleep here and there lol but the long term outcomes are great. Are  you in year 11 or 12?

BIO IS AMAZING. I'm genuinely really keen for bio and am finding the content a little bit underwhelming at the moment (highly doubt it's going to be this way for much longer, weirdly I struggle with the plasma membrane like anything cause i CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT CAN AND CANNOT GO THROUGH THE MEMBRANE, so I just rote learned it. I mean what is the definition of a 'large' or 'small' molecule). I got a tutor in the beginning of the year but figured that bio makes no sense to me when someone else is explaining it. It sticks more if I do the work myself (more work for me yay)!

Just saw you write a diary too! Will have a read tonight :)

Hey there!
I don't know how I feel about mathamatica, there's kids in my class who are programming whizzes at it and I feel SUPER behind. So behind I'm scared to try and catch up (do you know that feeling? Fear of failure maybe). But my sac should be enough motivation to get me grinding I think.
I'm volunteering in he city at Refuge of hope. They have this english conversation club where foreign students come to learn english -- it's insane how much you learn from other people's stories. I'm also starting St. John's ambulance at the moment!

WILL 100% READ YOUR PRODUCTIVITY THREAD. For me, I have days where I am super productive then other where I'm not productive at all. Overall, i just don't want to be cramming for sacs the night before this term lol

 :)
