Title: Accelerated Mathematics 1+2
Post by: #1procrastinator on August 12, 2011, 11:23:51 am
Does it cover the exact same content as Calculus 2, Linear Algebra and Real Analysis? More rigorous? Less? I'm wondering if taking Calculus 2 + Linear Algebra in first semester and Real Analysis in second is the same thing as the Accelerated Math stream

Accelerated Maths 1 teaches Linear Algebra and other "stuff".

Accelerated Maths 2 covers Calculus 2 and Real Analysis.

What does 'other stuff' consist of? :p

A little bit of Calculus 2.  But I think the meaty bits of Calculus 2 are in Accelerated Maths 2.

Accelerated Maths 1 was basically Linear Algebra with about two weeks of Calc 2 and Real Analysis thrown in. My friends and I believe the Linear Algebra content taught in Accelerated Maths is a bit more rigorous than in the subject Linear Algebra, as the subject is essentially broken down into Linear Algebra in Accelerated Maths 1, and Calc 2 and Real Analysis in Accelerated Maths 2.

That being said content-wise you should consider them equivalent - the purpose of having Accelerated Maths was so that students who had to do all three subjects could do it in two subjects, and have that third subject freed up for something else
