Hi people! I'm in need of a new scientific calculator and I'm just wondering if there's a particularly good brand/model for them. I currently own a five year old Sharp EL-506W which is inconsistent at best. Thoughts? :o

I've always liked the Casio ones. As for a model, any of the new ones should be good.

Apparently the one I have, has some hidden function on it (or so I've been told)!.. I don't know what the function is or does. :P

You can buy it at any store - I bought mine from Officeworks a while ago. The screen is actually quite small, though still readable.

Ah Thanks for posting this! I was going to do it, but you saved me from it. Yeah, I have this one and I found it really good..I needed on that resembled a graphic one, as I got used to them and was unable to adapt to the normal ones..

I don't know, I didn't have the previous model. I just bought that one straight off. :P

Search around on the internet if you want more information.

It's pretty decent IMO. Might as well get it!

I used that calculator in my 1/2 Chemistry exam. :P

@swarley, I didn't think there was price difference when buying at different times. It doesn't matter?.. shouldn't the price be the same. Wait till January if you want, after the Christmas rush and so on, the price could be cheaper. =D

That doesn't actually mean anything. I used my CAS for both my chem and physics exams this year. :P

VCAA really should list authorised scientific calculators.
