2019年9月5日木曜日 - Update

I don't really know how often people log and stuff so I'm just gonna do it whenever a lot of events take place

- I had my FIRST ever LOTE oral in my life two days ago. I'm not sure how well I did but Jesus I sure was shaking after it was all over
- My poor friend has been very sick so I'm just wishing the best for her
- I had my Bio test today, first thing in the morning and let's just say it didn't feel as difficult as the first test (which I did really bad on)...I'm just waiting for the results to come back because I always find myself making some kind of mistake
- I had a Maths Exam Prep right after Bio and I did really badly. It doesn't really matter since it's not getting assessed or anything, just revision but I realized my time management is poor during test conditions and I made a big mistake on one of the questions (I got the correct answer which was like x^3 but the next question needed that formula and I wrote down x^2; so when I was finding the maximum using calculus, I was really confused why I got whole numbers when the question said to write it in exact answer)
- My Methods 1/2 exam is next week so quite a bit stressed about that
- In Essential Science (atm we're doing chem), we had to balance equations. At first they looked like jibberish but once the teacher individually explained it to me I was like wait what I totally get this...starting to somehow enjoy chem?
- We did Ultimate Frisbee for sports (I don't know why it's called ULTIMATE Frisbee like why can't it just be called Frisbee?) which was okay. We played this random mini game where we had to stand still and not budge unless if the Frisbee comes to us (then obviously we have to try and catch it). If we fail to catch it or budge just the slightest then game over. To be honest, I much prefer Hockey because being goalie or defender is the best feeling ever
- I need to finish writing my application for this scholarship and also one Lit-style body paragraph (prep for Lit next year)
- I ended up procrastinating today after school by watching The Many Faces of Ito. I've also watched Million Yen Women and those J-Dramas are sooo good (no, they're not the K-Dramas with a typical handsome CEO male lead falling in love with a pretty female, these dramas are actually more so dark/realistic and not to mention, a completely different genre; they're on Netflix so check em out because holy cow they're good). Watching J-Dramas is kinda like slow paced studying since I'm listening to Japanese people pronouncing words and naturally increasing my vocab and well as hearing

I think I wrote a bit too much...yeah just a tad bit
To finish it off here's a fun fact (more like assumption, I think I might put one every single update just for fun)

Macrob Fun Fact: The typical Mac.Robbian wakes up at 6-6:30 and goes to sleep at midnight. That's why we're always dead on the inside

I feel your maths struggles, man. At least now you can implement what you’ve learnt in the future!
Also... watching dramas!! As homework!!
It really does help - I’ve been studying Korean a little bit and it’s really cool when I can understand! Even when I watch Turkish shows, I learn new vocabulary that I can test out with my parents and friends  ;D

Hahaa yes, ultimate homework ever! It's sad that dramas only help you learn languages, why can't they help us for all our subjects
Korean sounds like a fun language. I totally get you about it being awesome when you can kinda understand sentences. At one point, I started watching an anime without eng subtitles and I could understand all of it (I don't really like anime, I was just watching it like homework) Have you ever tried speaking Korean?
I've also studied Turkish for god knows how many years. Unfortunately, I didn't learn much. I don't blame the language but rather my school because they made the subject really boring and we had to repeat the same topics every single year. I feel like if my teacher was as good as my Jap teacher, I really would've enjoyed it

Oh damn!!!! It’s so rare to see people learning Turkish in schools. Do you remember much?
I think my Turkish abilities definitely helped a little with speaking Korean as pronouncing the letters comes somewhat naturally. I’ve never spoken Korean to someone else, mostly just to myself or singing

Really??? In my old school it was compulsory so my approach to it wasn't very positive
I don't remember anything at all, maybe like random weird words (like avukat, ekmek, menun oldum)
In saying that, I can often recognize if someone is Turkish just by their names!
And aww I hope you will get to speak in Korean to other people someday, it's a really good way of practicing (btw I also sing to myself in Korean XD )

Hi! I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of your journal! I'm in year 11 next year as well, and reading journals from people in the same year as me is really motivating. ;D
I'm doing VCE Japanese too! I initially did 1/2 this year but have decided to repeat it next year since I think it would give me more confidence. But certainly having that foundation and a taste of VCE has already been super helpful for me. I'm glad you're enjoying it, I think Japanese is a really interesting language. (I think it's probably better to use "jp" instead of "jap" though as jap used to be a racial slur  :( )

I actually found this as well! I did chem in semester 1 and I found balancing equations and chemical formulas to be one of the most enjoyable parts of chemistry. The theory side is what made me start to love chemistry despite how challenging it can be.

So excited to see more!

Aww thank you! I'm so glad you can get something out of this journal
I had no idea "jap" is a racial slur; partially because even some of my Japanese friends use it and I don't think people would be able to tell what "jp" is

I'm glad you're enjoying the language too. I find the grammar rules and conjugations a lot of fun, as well as the kanji. Are you planning on continuing it after VCE?
Also, yeah chem is getting better but I'm not sure how long that will last XD balancing equations was my biggest enemy as I felt I was the only one in my class who had no clue of what I was doing but now I can sorta do it

I can say the same with the boys at MHS, except I was more dead and 'pensive' about life compared to everyone else because I had to wake up at 5-5:30am everyday :P

Oh god I can't imagine...one of my mhs friends also wakes up at that time (even though we would message each other up until 12-1am and sometimes 2) because he likes either waking up really early or really late? Maybe that's why he's always so dead
It's sad to see people live so far away somehow make it to the city every single day; I'm dying with 6-7.5 hours of sleep a day

It's funny, but because I live like 25 minutes from school (if I get a lift, 50 if I catch public transport), and I get there early to study, I have to be super organised. My friend who's house you can see from the front office is always an hour or so late, every single day...

Privileged kidsss
But yeah even if my school was 5min away I'd still be dead (just using the distance as an excuse)
