calorimetry heat loss

So in the study design it states we need to know the effects of heat loss on calorimetry. I know how to limit heat loss, but what impacts will heat loss have on the calibration factor??

A calibration factor is used to account for heat loss. So during calibration, a chemical reaction is performed which releases a known amount of thermal energy. The resultant rise is temperature is measured, so then it can be determined the degree to which the constructed calorimeter conserves and loses heat. When you figure out the calibration factor, you can accurately (or at least somewhat) calculate the delta H for a reaction accounting for heat lost to the environment.
