Update: Finding a job is harder than I thought.
Mainly looking for an office job like reception or something, and had retail/fast food as a last resort. (It’s boring AF from work experience)
The ones that accept students are either:
-In the middle of nowhere with no public transport (pretty shit for someone who doesn’t even have their Ls yet).
-Must have 1 year experience in something that a high school leaver wouldn’t have.
So far I’ve got 1 possible interview for receptionist, but looks like I might have to do retail, if no one replies.
It’s so boring when you’re not studying and just sitting around. I’m doing a few math papers to keep the brain active.
Hey MisterNeo.
Landing the first job is always the hardest, but at least you're trying! It took me a year of fast food and half a year of tutoring to actually get into other areas. Don't be so disappointed if your end up in retail! I know plenty of people who work many years in the retail/ hospitality area throughout high school/ uni or afterwards until they do other things. Patience is a virtue, as they say. Greater things have to start somewhere. (Also, maybe it's a good time to start trying for your Ls then? Only a suggestion.)
Also, coming from someone who is constantly too busy, boring is a good thing sometimes. You'll appreciate the quiet once you become older and have no time to yourself, especially if you're an introvert at heart.
