Hey Hey,
Postgraduate medicine entry for Monash is
only available to
students who have graduated with a Monash degree, with a WAM higher than 70. The degree must be in Biomed (+ any double degrees), Pharmacy, Physio or Science (+ any double degrees). Monash graduate entry is dependent on your WAM (your weighted average mark = approx. overall academic score) (40%), SJT (Situational Judgement Test) and an interview (MMI) (60%).
+ With a science degree, you have to complete at least 5 units, in this
list.

FAQsAnecdotal advice
I was also in your position of picking between biomed vs science. Personally, I recommend doing Pharmacy or Physio, as on top of giving you the slim opportunity of getting into grad med, they are more likely to have better job prospects than biomed or science. I picked science, as I wanted a broad + more 'chill' degree, the opportunity to try for grad-med and a possible pathway for research. I guess it all depends on your interests. I would say, with biomed or science, considering the outcome of not getting into med; would you like to pursue a career in some biomed area (add a double degree – eng, law/ biotech/ follow up with your major: eg: pathology -> lab assistant)? Or research (masters -> PHD)?, just have some estimate of where you would go from there. But according to most of the advice I’ve received, you have to stay consistently motivated to get that coveted spot in grad med, avoid purely doing a degree for an additional slim chance and have a backup plan (non-standard interstate med, change of goal, picking up honours etc.)
