Hey guys, currently completing year 12 right now.
I'm aiming for a 85+, but hoping to do bachelor of the arts at Melbourne. The only problem is that the clearly in atar for bachelor of the arts (melbourne) is 91.6. I will be aiming for this, however I need a backup plan if I can't achieve a high score of 91.6 as most of my subjects don't get marked up.
I have always been interested in law, however the score is very high at lets say, monash or melbourne. I noticed at VU, I could achieve the score needed for law or arts/law.
I know VU is not well known for law. But has anyone done it or know anyone that does it?
I'm thinking if I had to go to VU, i'd probably do the double degree (?) arts/law.

Might be worth sending a PM to gs
They haven't been around in a little while, but they may get your PM. Worth a shot!

The law courses at ACU are also a lot lower than monash XD

I'm doing a Bachelor of Laws at VU at the moment.
It is honestly a new experience for me. I used to spend a lot of my time (in year 11 and 12) at Melbourne University, pretending I was a University student there. I went to a few Juris Doctor lectures being held, and they were good, but the majority of students are pompous (well, the ones I spoke to back then anyway). I can't speak for Monash.
But there's two things to be said about VU: the quality of teaching is, in most cases, fantastic. It's miles ahead of other courses at VU (I was doing a Bachelor of Legal Practice Management prior to a Bachelor of Laws), and some of them are world-class (I'll actually be heading to Berlin to do the Interviewing and Negotiation seminar held at Humboldt University,* which is taken by Adjunct Professors at VU). That, and the location is amazing. It's literally around the corner from the Courts in Melbourne, and it's across the road from the Children's Court. It's right outside Flagstaff Station (honestly, it's almost as good, if not better, than the RMIT main campuses).
If you want to know more about VU, send me a PM and I'll forward you my email address.
* In case you didn't know, Einstein taught at Humboldt University, and it's one of the top Universities in Europe.

Wow this is some really interesting and helpful information.
I have been researching the law campus (City Queen?), and it looks great. Good location and separated from the rest of VU (lol)
Anyway, if it's alright. I will pm you with my email. I'm really keen to find out how the course is, how big the cohort is and general information.
Thanks for the help and good luck with your studies/.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a common personality trait amongst law students from both Victorian Group of 8 universities (in my experience, and in the experience of the less "gunner" law students I've spoken with).
I'm actually really glad to hear about the quality of VU. Deakin is already heading up the rankings - I can't wait until the other universities do as well. UoM and Monash could stand to be taken down a notch.
Also I'm seriously jealous of your Berlin visit. It's a beeeeeeeautiful city!

Getting 85 would secure a place for you at UoM for your arts degree imo :) dont aim for a score just do your best and then consider what courses you like!

University is what you make of it, just choose whatever area interests you. Or whichever Uni offers you a scholarship haha.
The 'prestigious' tag matters a heap for post-grad stuff in my opinion. Not so much undergrad.
If interested in Law, Vic Uni (like all) cover all the essential units. Good luck
