Hi! Before I do a bit of self promotion, I thought I'd provide some advice about finding a tutor in general
The most important thing I advise is to find someone who makes you feel comfortable and heard. We've had some students come to us after really horrible experiences of working with tutors/tutoring centres who told them they have to write a certain way, their existing work is s**t, they know nothing about the texts, etc. So my advice is to find someone who makes you feel good about being you, and who will work with your existing knowledge and strengths to maximise your marks. You should be able to to call a prospective tutor and have a chat with them so you can get a sense of who they are and how they might work with you. This is on top of all the other things (like subject knowledge), of course.
I run a team of caring English tutors who specialise in working one-to-one with Victorian students. I personally do all the assessments before pairing students up with a tutor, and I also oversee sessions via session notes and also stay in touch with all parties to make sure we're doing our best job for you.
