Not quite actually. List has been updated again, last updated 5 mins ago. BIO3021 & PTY3051 @K888 if you haven't already done it will not be postponed and will start on the 2nd of March.
Thanks but I'm in 4th year now! I am mentoring in PTY3051 though so good to know my dates won't change for that.

Thanks so much for keeping us appraised of all the info, Springyboy!

I know that this is for Clayton, but super curious as to how that'd work at Parkville, given that most of the new cohorts are usually in classes for the majority of the day during the week (usually 4-5 days) lol
(The lack of oweek is the going to screw over Parkville C&S tbh- glad I'm no longer involved in that mess :D )

Wait, is it confirmed that O week is March 17-19. Also, what does that mean to our classes on those 3 days?

I've taken those dates from an email by the MSA. The idea would be that you attend your class as per the timetable and check out the orientation festival when you're not in class

Monash Parkville: Honours orientation is unaffected
Also Monash Parkville, just before: Uh, so, we're reducing all the inductions and orientation from 3 days to 0.5 days. Glhf.

Bit of a yikes :')
(I was due to start my project on the 25th, but looks like I'm starting on the 24th instead I guess lol)

Hopefully it's mostly content that the last cohort didn't find useful that's been cut out?

I mean the library talk was the only real filler thing they had- there's the PPA (Parkville's version of MPA (now MGA)) and Mental Health talks that were probably useful, everything else appeared to be actually useful haha!

The only things that they're keeping atm (and not postponing until god knows when) are the 'meet your coordinators'/allocation of lab access/general faculty tour and OHS safety tour (which is fair enough haha). I believe they'll likely ask me to come in early to do a biosafety session on Friday anyways, but I'm waiting for the faculty to confirm that.

The real kicker is that our cohort have a compulsory seminar to attend anyways on the Friday which would've been day 2 anyways lol.

At least they're providing lunch because we're rocking up for 2.5 hours? :D

Hey so I'm new to the Peninsula campus this year studying physio (I did a short law stint at Clayton campus 2 years ago haha) and because O'Week has been postponed/cancelled I'm wondering if anyone had any information on what Peninsula campus is like i.e. do most people study on campus during breaks or go into town? what are the clubs to join/avoid? are there any sporting clubs to join on campus (e.g. run club?) I'm pretty familiar with Monash Clayton but Peninsula is a whole different ball game
Also pretty new to the Peninsula area (I've been to Frankston beach but that's about it) and have heard that food is limited on campus so if anyone has any good places to grab food/coffee near campus would be v grateful <3

Hey there! I'm a 4th year physio student.
Peninsula campus is lovely, super peaceful and leafy. It'll be a massive change for you coming from Clayton lol. In terms of food, they've recently redeveloped building A which has a new eating area and cafe, and then there's the cafe in building U. Obviously not as much choice as Clayton but definitely sufficient to get coffee from or buy lunch or a snack.

During breaks, most people will study in the library or hang out on the library lawn or anywhere on campus. There's not really much in the way of clubs. If you want to go to physio events you can join MUPS and you'll get discounts on stuff like after exam party tickets and ball tickets and hoodies and that sort of thing. In terms of sporting stuff there's a hockey club but idk much else. There's a big gym though so probably more info around there.

Most people stay on campus in breaks because you have to pay for parking in most spots in Frankston itself and usually you won't have a massive break between classes - the biggest one I've had was 2 hours. There's a cafe and boost juice place at the woolies servo about 500m down the road and some food places in the homemaker centre next to Bunnings but really you might as well save the effort and get stuff on campus.

In terms of parking, there's free unlimited hour street parking on the train station side of Bloom St but that will fill up pretty quickly so you might end up with a bit of a walk in. You can park in other surrounding side streets and walk in but just make sure you don't park in a residential permit only zone because inspectors are fairly regular, especially in the first few weeks of semester.

Hey, if I picked a lecture time which didn't have learning capture/live streaming in the description, would I still be able to view it online? Or would it only be a physical location which I must attend?

It depends on the unit. Some would be recorded in this case, whilst others would not be recorded. Usually all units are recorded except for law units, but you might still have to go. If you put the unit up here, I can check if the unit guide's out and let you know.

The unit is ENG1005. Some of the lectures have their descriptions left blank whereas others say 'learning capture/live streaming enabled' so I'm not sure whether they'll all be recorded or just those ones which have mentioned learning capture.

No problem nah according to this all lectures are recorded don't stress. You only need to attend the applied classes. I can see what you mean after looking here though. Some lectures definitely don't mention LC. However, as all lectures are held in C1 which is the second largest lecture theatre on campus, then they should usually record. However I have had technical faults before in C1, so do try and attend if you can.
