Reading and Responding in the Jap exam

We were doing an exam, the 2008 one the other day and when we were doing reading and responding in Japanese, we found that the answers were just pretty much there and we could just easily copy the whole sentence out and add kara desu at the end.
Is that what they want us to do? Or are we meant to rearrange/paraphrase the answer to show our language skills 
Or do VCAA actually want us to extract the important part of the answer and just copy it word-for-word?  :idiot2:

pretttttty much, at least for the first two or so questions in reading and responding in Japanese. If the question is asking for two reasons, you can essentially copy out two reasons and have two kara desu sentences. As you've probably noticed, answers can be pretty damn short. The last question in that section is usually the tricky one where you have to extract the important part.
