Psych resources 2009

It's almost time to purchase your books for next year and I thought it would be a good idea to post some resources that I found handy for psych in 2007.

All these were extremely valuable and I think it would be an advantage to get your hands on one or more of these resources.

TEXT
Psychology for the VCE student- by John Grivas/Linda Carter/Ross Down This would be the best text book by far. It can be wordy at times, but it states everything well and goes into sufficient detail in a fairly simplistic manner.

Psych NOTES Unit 3/ Psych NOTES Unit 4 2nd Ed.- Milesi/Vainer
These paperback books summarise the course content well, although they should not replace the text. It also contains good practice questions for exam preparation.

Psychology Checkpoints- Max Jory. This is an excellent buy. Includes past exam questions (short answer and multiple choice).

Psychology Study packs (Unit 3/4)- published by Jacaranda
These are good summary cards which are useful for short revision sessions leading up to the exam. They outline the basics, but are still useful at times.

NEAP Practice exam publication- this contains about 6 practice exams which NEAP have published into a paperback addition. It can be purchased from the NEAP website.

Psychology revise-in-a-month paperbackThis resource didn't really appeal to me but some of my class mates found it to be of good assistance.

Hope this helps

I found NEAP Smart Study Practise questions to be quite comprehensive and challenging (which is what you want, really) and of course, practise exams especially VCAA ones are a must.

I think it was orange or red. I can't really remember, I borrowed it from the library.

And podcards: http://www.podcards.com.au/
The site isn't working right now, but you can download flashcards for each ares of study and they're perfect to view on your phone/ipod or to print out and use as real flashcards.

The one about visual fields is particularly good- nice one Eriny. I remember using that for revision of visual perception as it was often a pretty complex topic to get your head around.  :)
