Title: Question about quotes/textual evidence for essays
Post by: mjgass on August 11, 2018, 05:00:42 pm
I was wondering if there was a rule as to how many quotes/textual examples are needed in each body paragraph for English Advanced essays? Also if the amount needed differed between the different Modules/AOS essay. Thanks! :)

Hey there,
There's no formula as to how many textual support you need. Personally, I do three quotes per text in each paragraph, which equals to 6 quotes per paragraph. I usually follow this for all my essays. However, this isn't really applicable to Mod C because it's not a comparative essay, so I generally due 3 quotes from prescribed and 2 quotes from my ORT in each paragraph. Even though this is my standard structure, sometimes I include more or less quotes (for example, in Mod B I tend to do 2 quotes and a quote from a critic for 1 text or more quotes (say if I'm contrasting something).

Hope this helps!

Thank you! 3 per text seems like a good amount.
