List of LaTeX Resources

Hi guys,
If you plan on studying Science/Engineering (Especially areas like physics and mathematics) then LaTeX is an important thing to know.
Sometimes I notice that some of you don't post your questions using LaTeX and you're the worst people on the planet (really). So I've decided to compile a list of resources to help YOU get better at LaTeX.

Useful links
  • Mao's short beginner's guide for forum use
  • A youtube playlist of 12 video tutorials for beginners
    • A playlist to help get you started using LaTeX, a free and powerful typesetting program used most often for composing documents about mathematics and science.
  • The Wikibook on LaTeX
    • One of the most complete LaTeX manuals I've found. Extremely helpful and downloadable in PDF format. (It's also probably one of the most complete wikibooks I've ever seen)
  • Detexify
    • A cool little tool I found a while back, but someone on IRC recently brought to my attention again is Detexify. Not sure what command to use to draw a symbol? Simply draw it and Detexify will try to figure out which symbol you want and tell you the command. Extremely useful.
  • Mathbin
    • A mathematical pastebin. Talking to your friends about maths on msn/skype/irc/<im progam of choice>? Then you're a nerd. But seriously, mathbin is great for showing your friends wtf you're talking about without having to write 'partial derivative of x wrt y divided by sin(x)....'
  • The actual LaTeX website
    • Speaks for itself I think
  • Mao's Template
  • Arbitrary LaTeX reference.

Software
  • MiKTeX
    • Pretty much required to have on Windows. Also comes with a non-WYSIWYG editor TeXWorks, which I personally use.
  • ProTeXt
    • Another LaTeX distribution for windows based off of MiKTeX. I haven't tried it so I can't comment on it.
  • LyX
    • A WYSIWYG editor to write your assignments in. Available for OS X, Windows, Linux and even OS/2.
  • TeXnicCenter
    • A non-wysiwyg editor to write your assignments in. Windows only.
  • TexWorks

That's just about all I can think of at the moment. Got anything else to add? Put it in a reply and I'll add it to this post.

Oh yeah and don't forget:
MyNameisBob for national mod!

EDIT: Merged with Mao's sticky.

I don't know whether I'm more disturbed by your avatar, the fact that you want national mod or the lack of LaTex use on the forum

I'm more disturbed/surprised by the fact that the post contained useful information.

Yeah he wants Nat Mod bad.
‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."

I use:
http://mao.id.au/?p=322 for the template
http://latex.knobs-dials.com/ for reference
and
http://www.tug.org/texworks/ as my editor of choice

Mac users should get http://www.tug.org/mactex/2011/

Personal opinions of other editors, LyX is terrible (bloaty, requires too much mouse), TexnicCenter is equally as bad (bad UI, too much space taken up by crap). TeXworks is light and clean, color codes reasonably well, more polished than other minimalistic editors, but sometimes craps itself on dual monitor displays.
Editor for ATARNotes Chemistry study guides.

TeXWorks is the one that comes with MiKTeX I believe. It's the one I use anyway.
