while i definatly want to join a club or something at uni but im still very much undecided on which one is for me
id love to hear real experiences of current students and their club activites as im kinda scared of joining, commiting myself socially/financially for a semester and then finding out i dont particulary like it a week later

O shit is there an ANU math/physics club?There actually is no maths society as yet, but there's one being created as we speak, should be up and running by O-week (see the link below). Hopefully I should be a part of it when I get back to Canbore.
I don't know how active the physics society is, but they do issue some pretty sweet tshirts that you'll see around campus, my favourite being:

Oddly enough, there is a very popular astrophysics society (aptly named the Black Hole Society) that runs some interesting seminars and pizza/movie nights every now and then - I highly recommend you join it (it's strange though because there are a lot more BHS members than students actually studying astrophysics!).

They have an anime night once a week where everyone's welcome to come and watch whatever episodes they're playing.
It was on a Wednesday night last semester though, and I didn't have class on Wednesdays.

I can probably still count the number of anime I've watched (as in, more than a few episodes) on my fingers... haven't even started on my toes yet.

I joined MUMS and PSS but was not active in either. I'm going to be more active with MUMS since I know about Ahmad and Neobeo. Darn TT, I wish you were going to UoM :(.
