It's mainly chem 3/4 that I'm worried about as I didn't do 1/2, so I've been spending the holidays so far working through all the 1/2 content. Confusing, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it!

Hey there, I graduated in 2017 and did Chem units 3&4 without units 1&2. I've got a suggestion for you. I ended up doing this and it was a huge benefit in the long run. Initially, this sounds crazy, but here me out.
You may (or may not) be surprised to know that units 1&2 and units 3&4 are somewhat disconnected. There's a decent amount of material in units 1&2 that could be considered useless for units 3&4. So, once you have learned the basics of chemistry, the most important concept being stoichiometry and basic calculations regarding simple reactions, I suggest you learn units 3&4 and units 1&2
together. I taught myself from the units 3&4 textbook (and had some help from a tutor), and, when presented with theory that required prerequisite knowledge, I consulted the units 1&2 textbook, and then went back.
Now, I'm
not saying that the remaining content in units 1&2 is useless. In some cases, it's somewhat helpful to know and completes your VCE Chemistry knowledge, but given the limited time you have, I think the more important concepts and theory should come first
