Nice Ash! It seems like you've got a fantastic start on the year. As Arty said, I'm really looking forward to seeing your final design (ahh it's going to be awesome, I know it!!!  :o ;D ;D)

Thank you so much Choco! I'm looking forward to not procrastinating and whipping up some amazing drawings
I'm actually doing visualisations right now so it may be possible I finish sketching a design before school starts! ;D

Wow! I wish I had the motivation to do that much work over the holidays! Seriously, you should be super proud of that effort.  ;D That's a great idea, I normally try and do all the exercises without a calculator because I feel pretty confident in my ability to punch some numbers into a computer, so it's time better spent improving my 'by hand' skills.
Great to see you enjoyed your time at NYSF, that looked like a blast! Best of luck for the year ahead, I'm sure you'll smash it!!  :) :)

It's been a while since I've done maths by hand so having this mini-break from my CAS seems to have done some good! I'm mainly doing everything by hand except certain extended response questions where it's pretty much impossible to do by hand and so far it's working ;D. The only catch is now it takes me forever to plug things into my CAS...
Good luck for Methods this year! You are going to do amazing, I can feel it! ;D

Wowie, looking at that previous post at all the work you've done on the holidays makes me feel like I've truly done nothing (which is true).

But seriously, congrats! I could have never gotten that far! (I'm a procrastinator at heart and I'm going to end up trying to finish all holiday homework in the last few days before school...)

Don't worry, being a procrastinator is good because they will find an easy way to do the job quickly.😂

The main reason I'm trying to do some work early (excluding breakdown from results) is because of one of my subjects *cough* PDT *cough*. It's going to take forever to sew the costume and make all the details perfect so I'm just trying to make life easier for later? ??? (I don't even know if this is going to help me but we will see sooner or later)

I'm definitely going to start procrastinating by the end of the week and I'm so looking forward to it ;D
Other than procrastinating, have you done anything relaxing during the holidays? My plan is to binge eat before school begins🤣

☆Update: 28/01/2020☆

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another episode of Ashmi's Catastrophe Journal!

So with school for me literally being tomorrow (thankfully I only have 2 periods WOOHOO), it's probably time I did another update of my current life.

First of all, if anyone is doing Further Maths 3/4 and would like some tips for constructing bound references or using CAS, I made a mini-guide here: ☆Further Maths | Guide☆ . I would like to update it soon with some examiner tips/what people usually make mistakes on so check it out every once in a while~

Some random things going on in my life:
   • Our school's Year 12 formal got cancelled :'(
   • Also, our school doesn't want us to have pockets in our Year 12 Jumpers
   • Currently debating how well the 'no phones' policy is going to work in school
   • Was able to drink the recommended amount of water for 3 weeks straight! :)

Subject Progress during holidays:

☆PDT☆
I've been having art-block and have been only able to do some mini sketches (visualisations) to put into my folio. I really wanted to have a full rendered design done but overall, I'm pretty happy with how everything has turned out. I've only done a few visualisations, but so far so good! I have Product Design tomorrow so I'm really excited to get back on track with my stuff. Here one batch of visualisations that I need to put into my folio template (Let's hope I can get 5 of these!)

☆English☆
This subject has been pretty good to me recently. I've just been reading and annotating again while trying to make connections with my comparative texts. With this, I'm trying to learn a few more words each day (especially for language analysis) and hopefully I can start improving more when I get back to school!

☆Methods☆
It feels weird to not have to charge your CAS constantly, like really weird. Methods has been an interesting subject for me because I'm finding it to be much easier than the previous year, almost as if everything has just clicked into place. Maybe it's because there is less 'word problems' or just the method to solve a particular question you sort of know from the very start. I don't know where methods is going to take me this year but I'm so excited for AOS 4 Probability that's for sure!

☆Chemistry☆
Loving fuels, galvanic cells and pretty much everything in AOS 1! AOS 2 is interesting too and I can't wait to do some Chem at school!

☆Physics☆
Hahahaha, physics. I love you yet I hate you so much. This is again, a weird subject and I'm just going to let life take its course and hopefully it doesn't destroy me too much this year. Unit 3 of Physics is my favourite and I'm hoping to stay positive in this subject through the year.

That's the final update before the academic year starts! Let's see if I can get through this school week!

Have fun starting school tomorrow (whilst I sit at home until Tues...). I'm excited to see where the year takes you!!

Folios looking super great too! I'm loving the colour scheme.

Yessss the science subjects are so interesting in Year 12...Year 11 seems like such a drag now that I look back! Especially Chem..

No phones policy? Thats interesting!

Have a lovely night  :D

Woah Tuesday! Lucky to have a few days left to relax ;D
Something magical has happened to all the science subjects because unit 3/4 is so far much more interesting than 1/2. A bit weird but loving the way it's going right now.
Our school is now implementing the No Phones Policy this year from the government and I just realised that I seriously need to buy a watch. Some of my classrooms don't have clocks and it gets quite annoying opening your computer to check the time :P
Tell us how your first day goes on Tuesday :)

The guide is awesome Ash and LOVING the folio work so far  ;D Have a great day at school today

Thank you so much Choco! I did have a really good day even though the weather was way too hot ;D. I look forward to seeing more of your journal soon ;)

Yes, this magic is wonderful and I hope it stays this way throughout the year.

Are you going to get an analogue watch or digital?  :D

Most likely an analogue watch so I can bring it into the final exam ;D. I'm going to go watch hunting this weekend so hopefully, I can find something nice that will last the whole year.

How are you finding your subjects and the new year Ionic Doc? Also, does anyone else have any interesting experiences with the 'Mobile Phone' ban? (Would love to hear about it! :)))

Good Move.

How are you finding your subjects and the new year Ionic Doc?

Great so far. I love learning all the content in every single one of my subjects. I know it's bound to soon get rough and hard in certain parts of the year but I still won't ever stop enjoying the experience of learning. STEM subjects will never get me bored.  ;)

My school has had this policy for the last two years. In the year they introduced it everyone thought it was like a temporary rule that wouldn't really be reinforced. We were all wrong. Teachers would literally make students empty out there pockets and if you had your phone on you they would take it up. Your parents would then need to come and pick the phone up after school at the reception. My school is crazy strict about it and everyone now knows to leave there phones in their lockers.

Is your school gonna be this strict?
Have you gotten much homework this week? I've already been  bombarded with work

So long as you can keep your motivation and enjoyment in the subject you will be alright!
We are all in this together so if you ever feel like you struggling, there are many of us in the same boat so don't give up and enjoy the ride ;D

Your parents would then need to come and pick the phone up after school at the reception. My school is crazy strict about it and everyone now knows to leave there phones in their lockers.

Now that is next level strict! We just have to have our phones in our lockers before 8:50am till 3:10pm. (You could have it on you but it needs to be out of sight). If your phone happens to ring once even during lunch, they confiscate it and now it's an automatic 2hr detention. Certain VCE art subjects (so far only Media and possibly studio arts/PDT) can have their phones but only for certain dates during the school year. We are definitely not as strict as that but so far on the first few days there have been multiple confiscations.

Have you gotten much homework this week? I've already been  bombarded with work

We have gotten homework and already have a Physics SAC less than 2 weeks from now. 😢 (The bombardment of work is just the beginning of the storm. Let's hope we make it through!)
For Chem, we are done with Fuels choices and next week starting Thermochem/universal gas equation. Methods we have a test on Monday covering linear (matrices), exponentials, logs and circular functions (then moving straight to transformations?). Physics is finishing off one more small section and preparing for SAC. English is a whole pack of analysing and planning for creative.
PDT is the only subject I have nothing for so far😂 (I hope it stays that way for a bit)

Imagine the homework load during late August... *shivers*

☆Update: 2/02☆

Just finished the first 3 days of school and multiple random things have happened. First off, my whole timetable changed and now I'm with completely different teachers from Head-Start (which happens to be all my fav teachers woohoo!!)

We got our lockers on the first day back, and now I'm just making a list of food supplies to put inside. I didn't realise how big the lockers were and I think I could stash away a good month's worth of food.
So far on the list its biscuits, long life milk, milo, pocky and a whole pack of instant noodles. 🤣
(If you guys have any recommendations on stuff please tell me! Looking for food ideas.)

On the first day, we had a quick Year 12 assembly and then I had 2 periods, English and PDT for the day (when you don't have a clock around you get so disorientated with time). I also have a really nicely placed free period at the end of every Wednesday so I just took a tram down to the State Library. (Was so tempted to just go home but I knew I wouldn't do anything). I also have 2 free periods on Mondays so I don't have to be at school till 12pm! It's been such a good week and I'm really happy with the progress in all my classes.

The next two days pretty much consisted of Chemistry, Methods and Physics which was really fun! My only full days are Tuesdays and Fridays which I'm really happy about. (Whoever made the timetable thank you)

Ok now to the mini update for subject-specific stuff:

Physics:
I have a Physics SAC in less than 2 weeks from now on Motion. I also have Year 12 Camp just before the Physics SAC so I have no clue how this is going to work. Physics has been quite interesting and I know that this SAC is going to be very hard so I better get cracking.

Chemistry:
Just finished Fuels and onto Thermochem next week. My Chemistry teacher is amazing and I'm so glad to have her. She makes Chemistry so funny that it's physically impossible to forget what she says during class. I really love the effort she puts in to try and link Chem to our daily lives.

Methods:
Got a test on circular functions, logs, exponentials and matrices tomorrow (no CAS). I'm feeling pretty good about it and I'm not worrying that much. Methods has been really good so far and I'm so excited for AOS 4 Probability (I LOVE Probability).

English:
This class has pretty much been analysing our book and planning for our creative piece. It's a pretty chilled class and we all just want to get the creative done and dusted so we can focus on the next piece (Text Response).

PDT:
My teacher and end-user has just signed my contract! (Muhahahaha they are bound to me for the next 8 months). We are just starting our folios and also getting ready for an early SAC just after Physics.

That's it for today's update! See you guys in the next episode!😂

Woah, that's a first to someone who likes probability. I mean, I don't mind it but I certainly prefer circular functions and calculus

Whenever our school would sell those snowball treats, my friends and I would buy them in bulk and store them in our lockers XD
Good times

It's great to know you're enjoying Year 12 so far (just hearing the number 12 makes me dread rn lol)! Good luck for everything, not that you will need it :)

Hey Chopsticks! ;D
Thank you so much for stopping by to read my journal!

Yeah there has been a bombardment of SACs already :'( (My Physics teacher loves giving us 3 SACs in term 1!). Let's hope that next year you have amazing teachers. :D
Probability is so underrated. (It is so much fun once you finally understand it and its hard to go back). Circular functions and calculus I do agree is pretty cool too. ;D

Oh yum! I think I'm going to add this on my list for my next grocery study period shop 🤣. Buying in bulk is such a good feeling and knowing you have a collection of quality food in your locker is the best!
Thank you Chopsticks! I'm definitely going to need your luck so keep sending some over😂.
