So this year (year 10) I'm doing three 1/2's, which are Methods, Biology and Latin. However, in year 11 I am only allowed to do two 3/4 subjects, and such I have to pause/drop one of the subjects. I know that I definitely want to do Latin 3/4 in year 11 however between Methods and Biology my friends tell me that I should do Biology 3/4 in year 11 and do Methods 3/4 with Specialist 3/4 in year 12. I was originally planning to pause Biology until year 12 but now I'm conflicted and want your guys' opinions on these two things:
1. Is it beneficial to do both maths methods and specialist 3/4 in the same year?
2. Is it a good idea to have a year gap between doing bio 1/2 and 3/4?
Doing specialist maths and methods in the same year is doable and most people actually do this combo in year 12. Spec links and extends of methods.
It would be better to do biology 3/4 in year 11 as bio is a content-heavy subject, so doing it in year 11 when you are able to dedicate more time towards your 3/4's would be the better move imo.
A gap between bio 1/2 and bio 3/4 won't have any dramatic effect as a good chunk of the content in 3/4 bio is different to that of 1/2.
You still have a little bit of time to decide, choose whatever you would feel more comfortable doing.
All the best with your studies and Welcome to AN
