-summer started last week (is it 上个星期夏天开始了？)
-I am happy I brought the right clothes for this weather(is it 我很高兴我带的衣服是对的?)

1. I would assume that both what you wrote and 夏天上周开始了 works.

2. 我很高兴我带的衣服适合这个天气。Don't forget "weather" is one of the key words.
