Hey! As your opinion, I determined to study bio when unit 1 ends,
I'm scared that I have to study unit 1 as well but doesn't matter haha
I'm doing English/Math B/SOR/Chemistry/Physics/Bio(Japanese)
Should I drop from SOR to R.E to study focus in other subject?
SOR/RE is mandatory for our school but do you thing SOR can make ATAR Score better or not?
I find that Atar is calculated as 4 subject + extra subject.
I am planning for Atar higher than 90, focus on 99
Unit 1 bio has heaps of resources available online for it. I would recommend taking a look at free notes, videos etc. before you swap to that class to help you be prepared and not overwhelmed. That being said, if you don't have the capacity to do that atm that's ok.
I probably wouldn't make a decision about dropping a subject given remote learning and everything unless you really feel like you need to. It can be hard to predict what your top 5 will be (for example, I thought I'd do better in chem than physics but it was the other way around) especially since scaling is a big unknown. Some students find that dropping a subject they use the time effectively on their other ones but many don't. If it was me in your position, I would prefer to keep 6 and have the safety buffer of knowing that if I underperform in one then my other 5 an be used for the calc.
SOR is a general subject and thus can contribute to your ATAR in the same way as other general subjects. RE is an applied subject and can also contribute to your ATAR but it does it differently; your ATAR is calculated from either your 5 best general subjects or 4 general subjects + 1 applied.
That all being said, this isn't about what I would do it's about what's best for you. If you are struggling with having a 6 subject workload after things have been normal for a while it might be worth revisiting your decision about how many subjects you take.
Hope this helps!
