Outline the general steps in the use of a therapeutic method of graduated exposure
Graduated exposure involves presenting successive approximations of the CS until the CS does not produce the CR.
Found the steps from the Grivas book.
In the first phase a therapist will work with the client to arrange situations from least to most fearful.
The second phase involves step-by-step exposure to each of the fear producing situation, starting with the least frightening.
Exposure is completed at the client’s own pace.
using examples distinguish between developmental plasticity and adaptive plasticity
Developmental plasticity-children developing through maturation
Adaptive plasticity-adult trying to recover after suffering from brain injury after a car accident
Children have both types of plasticity.
Describe changes that take place in neuron structure and function when new information is being stored in:
a. Short term memory
Long Term Potentiation
Functional Change- More neurotransmitters are produced and released across the synaptic gap.
b. long term memory
Dendrites-become bushier and thicker
Growth of synaptic connections
Give an example of an activity involving controlled process.
Knitting for the first time, assuming you're not skilled at it
Explain what makes these processes automatic
I'm not sure if this question is supposed to related to the one before. But automatic processes are those that do not require selective attention, only divided attention as they are usually simple tasks for the individual
Hope this helped!
