ATARNotes' brilliant team of volunteer moderators has been specially picked to lead and support this community!  We're always here to help and support you, so don't hesitate to contact any of us with any issues or questions. :D

The hierarchy:

1. Administrators can create boards, appoint moderators, do everything moderators can, and more.

2. National moderators can moderate posts across the whole forum, warn/ban users, edit users' profiles, see emails and IP addresses, and more.

3. State moderators can moderate (edit, delete, split, merge or sticky) posts in the specific areas they've been picked for.

All moderators also have access to a secret section where we discuss all sorts of forum issues. 8)

Slydev (Chief Technical Officer)

Joseph41
Introducing Joseph/Nick
Hello, friends. :)

My name IRL is Nick, so I thought Joseph41 would make the most logical username. I both joined AN and graduated from high school in 2012. I've since completed a Bachelor of Arts at Monash with Honours in Linguistics; my thesis considered the gendered media portrayal (linguistically) of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard throughout their respective Prime Ministerships.

My major passions in life - aside from AN, of course - are language, education, mental health, sport, travel, design and poetry. And coffee, which was a pretty nifty invention. Like, probably up there with the wheel. And I don't really need to consume wheels on a daily basis to live headache-free, so, thinking about it, one might actually contend that coffee is the niftiest invention of all time.

Please stick around on ATAR Notes, because it's such a fantastic community! :D
literally lauren
Introducing Lauren
Hi! I'm Lauren - a 2013 grad who's been hanging around to try and make your VCE English Studies a bit more bearable. My subjects (in no particular order, unless you count alphabetical) were Art, English, Indonesian, Literature, and Methods.

I've since gone on to attain an Arts degree from Melbourne Uni with a double major of Literature and Linguistics. Now I am old and weary. My bones are grey and my hair is arthritic. You may not see me on the forums much nowadays as I do a lot of behind-the-scenes work for the ATAR Notes publications, but I'll still rear my bookish head up on the English and Lit boards occasionally  ;)
Bri MT
Introducing Bri

Hey! I'm Bri and I completed VCE in 2017. I barely knew what an ATAR was, but somehow I stumbled across this community and learnt that regardless of your school there's a wealth of experiences, opportunities and resources you can tap into. I'm passionate about making science accessible regardless of location and SES, and studied English Language, Math Methods, Psych, Chem, Bio and Physics in year 12. Atm, I'm studying the Bachelor of Science Advanced - Global Challenges (Honours) at Monash, which I usually call "science" or "gc" to avoid sounding pretentious. Within my course and atarnotes I've found brilliant people and communities that I'm keen to keep contributing to and learning with - on AN, this officially started with modding Psych, but no one needs a title to help out

Aside from that, I love the great outdoors, like public speaking (I'm weird, I know), and occasionally escape into a book.

Calebark (VIC)
Introducing Caleb
Hello there!

My name's Caleb, and I've been on ATAR Notes since 2016, active since 2017, and attending the lectures since the very first series! I've become addicted to the vibe (and the friendships!) around here, so I hope I can do all I possibly can to help improve the experience.

I completed VCE in 2017, where I studied Biology, Physics, English, Chemistry, and Further Mathematics. I'll be studying Science at Monash after my 2018 gap year, after which I hope to enter education, medicine, or research. I'm unsure, but I have plenty of time to figure it out!

Outside of school and work I enjoy petting dogs, swimming, attending metal gigs, and the most heinous of puns :)
insanipi (NSW/VIC)
Introducing insanipi (she/they)
Hey hey! I'm Lou (short for Louise, and definitely not Liousie), and I did VCE all the way back in 2016 (and yes, I feel old haha). My pronouns are she/her/hers and they/them/theirs (I take both!). You can probably find me mostly likely having fun on the Forum Games! I finished my honours year in Pharmaceutical Science (doing cool CRISPR/Cas9 stuff) in 2020, and the way I'm going I'll still be in the lab overly-caffeinated or hyped up on tea by the time that I'm actually old :P I used to hate biology (I refused to take it in high school), but I've found a new appreciation for molecular biology so far throughout my course.

A few fun facts about me:
- I'm OBSESSED with scrunchies (bought and made)
- My first AN lecture was Specialist Maths in January 2016 (which I chose because I wanted to be different to Calebark that year and not do English on that day)
- My favourite forum game is probably the count to 20 thread ;)
- My VCE subjects were English, Math Methods, Chemistry, Physics, and Specialist Maths (which I didn't enjoy as much as I tried)

I love reading all the posts on the forum- helpful and inspirational alike, just like the whole community here! <3 Don't hesitate to shoot me a message if you want to chat or just say hello- I don't bite!
K888 (VIC)
Introducing K888
Hey guys! My name's Kate and I completed VCE in 2016, having studied Revolutions (my favourite subject!), English, French, Biology, Chemistry and Maths Methods (please don't ever ask me any questions about Maths, though). I'm now in my second year of Physiotherapy at Monash Uni. :)
My first ATAR Notes experience was listening to Brenden introduce Lauren for a 3/4 English lecture at the headstart lectures in 2016, and just like that, I was sold - I started posting on ATAR Notes a few weeks later. However, I didn't become properly active until 2017. In the short time since then, I've made some amazing friendships and have become part of an awesome community. The ATAR Notes forum is a truly phenomenal place, and I hope that in my role as a natmod, I can help all of you to find AN to be as welcoming as I have!
Outside of AN, some of my interests include: soccer, health and drinking tea. I also like cats (dogs are great, too).
owidjaja (NSW)
Introducing owidjaja
Hey there! I'm owidjaja/Olivia and I completed the HSC in 2018. During the HSC, I took Advanced English, Mathematics, Physics, Society & Culture, Studies of Religion, Modern History and History Extension (at some point I was crazy enough to do 13 units). The weird mix of subjects led me to study Aerospace Engineering at UNSW, where I get to build cool things like small autonomous vehicles and rockets!

To keep myself sane during uni, ATAR Notes has helped me separate myself from uni. I've been active on the forums since the end of 2017 hanging out in the History and Society & Culture boards and spamming J41 articles, but I also work for ATAR Notes as a published author and desk support during lectures. It's probably a bit weird for an engineering student to do work in Humanities but I think it's important for STEM students to expand their perspectives and actually learn about the world around them.

Outside of uni and work, I love reading, especially classic novels, and playing video games. My favourite games are The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy XV and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Feel free to message me anytime about anything!

Sine (VIC)
Introducing Sine
Hey everyone,  :)

I’m Sine and I completed my VCE in 2016. My subjects during VCE were Biology, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry, English and MUEP Chemistry. The first ATAR Notes lecture I attended was a headstart Specialist Mathematics lecture in 2015 which was also the first AN lecture ever. I also joined ATAR Notes in 2015 and began posting soon after.

Currently, I am studying a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at the Australian National University having already completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine (including a minor in Mathematics) at Monash University.

Outside of the sphere of university and ATAR Notes a few of my interests are playing/following sport (mainly soccer, cricket and basketball) and Music (Piano and Trumpet).
vox nihili (VIC)
Introducing vox/Trav
Hi there!

I'm vox and you can normally find me cruising around the Biology board. I initially started of as a moderator on the science boards and slowly made my way here :))

irl I'm a Med student at Melbourne. Before that I did Biomed at Melbourne, with a major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. And before that, I finished high school in 2012 studying Biology, Chemistry, English Language, French, Methods and Psychology.

Education is a really big passion of mine. I've spent quite a lot of time working in schools the past through years, mainly as a public speaking and debating coach, but have also been really lucky to be involved in a couple of volunteering programmes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, namely SWOT and VCESS. You should really get involved (as a tutor or a student!).
I also really enjoy learning languages. I did French at high school and Spanish at Uni (which was awesome fun). I'm planning on starting a new language really soon now that I've settled into med school a bit.

My inbox is always open :D

Near the end of every year, there's an announcement for applications so you'll have to submit that. In other cases you may be approached by the admins with an offer to become a moderator as well.

It's a very very quiet board, I think one moderator might be enough for now :)
