Title: How does ATAR really work?

I'm starting VCE this year so I wanted to know how an ATAR and scaling actually works and how you can avoid being cheated by the system. Also about your rankings in your cohort and why that's so important, from my understanding to get an amazing study score (45+) you need to be the top ranked student in your class?

He explains a lot about how scaling works and stuff in his guide. :)
