Confusing/Vague Teacher Feedback

Hi guys,

I hope this is an ok question to ask on this forum. I'm a tutor designing a bunch of materials for a Year 12 English tutoring course. I wanted to put together a resource that 'decodes' vague and confusing comments that English teachers tend to put on English practice exams.

i.e. Write with more sophistication, be more detailed, explain your quotes....

So my question is, what weird or confusing feedback have you recieved from your teachers? Have you recieved comments on your English SACs that you just flat out didn't understand, or you understand but have absolutely no idea what to do with?

Thanks!

"The conclusion is a bit unwieldy"
"tighter expression might have helped here."

might i also mention the aforementioned was feedback for an entire essay. not just a one line excerpt, my teacher literally read it and sent back a 800 word essay with two lines of feedback *sighs again*

In Year 11, the only feedback I received for an essay was literally a whole bunch of ticks and "good work" at the end. I received an A. Why it wasn't an A+, I guess I'll never know.

Providing a bunch of positive comments without anything constructive is quite annoying, especially given how difficult it is to achieve a perfect essay, so I'm sure some can always be found.
