Does anyone have any subjects uploaded to moodle?

Doesn't usually happen until O-week - sometimes they are put up in the first week of semester. Wouldn't worry too much about it :)

You should all go to the chemistry society stall. Who knows, you might even see me there. ;)

So how was everyone's first O-day? Joined many clubs? Had many snags? I felt like mine was quite good (joined the debating + science societies) but it had to be cut short because I have a long commute back home. Also, what happened to the badminton stall? Wanted to sign up but I found no one there. -_-

Pretty good. Joined the chess club, chemistry society, society for video game appreciation and wired. Thinking about joining the mahjong club, never played before but it looks interesting. Not sure if I'll be joining mass^3 yet...need to make more friends though.

Would have loved to but I always feel like I should join a club when I go and talk to the reps  :-[  Maybe tomorrow...

Quite good. Got rained on quite a bit. Joined the biomed and the Engineers without Borders societies. Watched the MUST show, I definitely recommend (a must-watch  ;))

Honestly, terrible. I'm already not feeling great about uni and I'm just feeling so confused, gah. :-[

I had a brief look around the stalls but I haven't joined any clubs or societies yet. I'll be back around campus on Wednesday so I will then- gives me some time to think a bit more about what I want to join too.

I'm sure if you hang out in the common room you will end up making friends with the people there. Did you end up going on the camp as well?

Stupid question but, whereabouts on the Clayton campus is there access to a kettle? I just want to make some tea. :'(
Campus Centre first floor microwave room in the dining room has a hot water tap, as well as Ten North (also Campus Centre, ground floor). Try those two if you want some hot water for tea! I believe Engineering, Education and Science have some in their buildings/ lounges if you know where to look (try Lost on Campus by StudentVIP).

Does anyone have any subjects uploaded to moodle?
They're finally up today! (At least some of them anyway.) Allocate+ is reopening tomorrow.

Honestly, terrible. I'm already not feeling great about uni and I'm just feeling so confused, gah. :-[
Oh dear! What's confusing you? Maybe we can talk over PM about it? :-\ Sometimes it takes a little while to get used to uni. Don't worry, it happens to everyone.

Just volunteered today at Clayton Campus Science Orientation today. Hopefully y'all didn't get too much of a soaking!

Yeah, it turned out being a lot better than I thought it would be. Glad I went.

I've enrolled in my units but I'm having second thoughts about what I want to study/major in. I know I need to decide ASAP so I can take the gateway units for that subject but I just don't know. :-\

Not having friends and just general anxiety/depression isn't helping either.

Hey Coffee, my B.A. @ Monash bud. :)

Remind me: what are you enrolled in? And why the second thoughts?

A couple of quick comments on that:
(1) I think it's really, really hard to know what you study at this point, considering you've literally not even had one lecture yet! If it's any consolation, heaps of people will be in the same boat. I really had no idea what I wanted to study (I wasn't even sure on Arts) at the equivalent time, and I didn't even have Linguistics as a unit at this point (in which I ended up majoring and pursuing Honours).
(2) On a related note, I don't think you need to decide ASAP. It's *ridiculously common* for people to change their units around in the first couple of weeks of semester, so don't feel as though you need every single element planned right now.

And I'm sorry to hear that things generally just aren't going that well. From experience, Monash is pretty good on the whole free services deal - I'd recommend making the most of those services if you're struggling (feel free to clarify here or PM). If I were still on campus, I'd totally offer to meet and buy you a delicious cup of your namesake, but I'm sure the friends will come.

Like, not going to lie, I found the first semester or two super tough for a number of reasons, and they seem to reflect the ones you've spoken about pretty nicely (lack of friends on campus, general anxiety/depression, uncertainty regarding units and future) - but things 100% got better (to the point that I loved uni, hahaha), and I really hope that they will for you, too. :)

EDIT: Oh, and everybody should join LingSoc! ;D

Hey! :)

I'm enrolled in literature, philosophy, history, and linguistics at the moment. The problem is I'm also interested in politics, IR, and film, which arguably have better career prospects than the other four. I've never actually studied film/politics/IR though, so I'm worried I might hate them and regret not sticking with what I've currently chosen. Basically, I just have no idea/too many interests and I'm struggling to narrow them down.

I also know that Monash is a great uni, but all my friends are going to either Deakin or La Trobe, and I just feel so lonely and I can't help but feel I should've gone elsewhere.

This is so lovely, and if it's still available, I'll have to take you up on this offer at any future AN meets. ;)

On an unrelated note, I went to get an MSA sticker for my ID but I was told I can't get one until I have my M-Pass. We aren't getting those until April though, aren't we? Supposedly, clubs/societies can look us up in the database to confirm MSA membership/eligibility for discounts but I'm worried they'll assume I'm lying? lol Did anyone else have this issue or should I go back and ask again?

Bit odd. I went to see some MSA reps last Tuesday and got my sticker on my ID card. I should think that they would provide a sticker since they're only officially using the M-Pass at the end of March. But I am sure that you'll get your M-Pass in the mail. You should probably go back and ask. I'd happily go with you on Wednesday if you want.

Yeah, definitely odd. I know some people got theirs this morning too. The line was quite long when I got there and I was told I could go and pick mine up from the library instead, maybe that's why?

We should definitely catch up, feel free to PM me! :)
