HEY! I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to prepare for the UMAT, or has done it and would like to share any advice? I don't want to pay for any packages as they are SO expensive and I don't want to put my parents through that financial strain.

Thanks guys, mcuh appreciated  ;D

I am also preparing for the Umat. I have been told to do  wide reading, and know your vocabulary especially for the second section. There are textbooks that you can buy which might not be as pricey as the packages. There are also a couple free practise papers online. I know medentry has one free paper. Then there is also a website called umat practise questions that is free, medstart has a practise paper too.
So maybe do these free papers then if it's not too pricey but a textbook in your weakest spot?
There are probably other people who have more experience in this area that can offer better advice.
Good luck

Hey SSSS
I am a med student at Monash Uni and I'm currently involved in UMAT/med interview training with iCanMed. They are a new tutoring company who aim to balance out the unfairness between students and not let financial status be a barrier to who gets into med. We offer cheaper UMAT courses as well as numerous free workshops throughout the year (sorry but most are held in Melbourne).

Indeed most UMAT prep packages are super expensive so I thought I'd let you know of a free workshop coming up in Sydney run by iCanMed. There are two (repeat) sessions on 19 December from 1-3 or 3:30-5pm.

For those without Facebook, ticket booking link: https://www.facebook.com/events/206851636424902/

If you would like some UMAT tips, there are some "preview" videos on the iCanMed website (http://www.icanmed.com.au) and weekly advice articles on our blog (http://www.icanmed.com.au/blog).

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email ([email protected]) and I'll get back to you asap.
Hope this helps :)
